Listen to an Interview with Dr. Lynn Rossy

Almost everyone has underlying challenges with eating and body image and for many these difficulties can result in emotional distress, obesity, and other eating-related health problems. Diets that focus on weight loss have not been shown to be effective in the long term and may even contribute to weight gain and greater despair. Taking a more holistic approach, a comprehensive mindful eating program can help people end overeating and make friends with their bodies by using the skill of awareness to manage their emotions and guide their behavior. In this session, learn the major components of Eat for Life, a program of mindful eating developed by the presenter for a workplace wellness program. Learn and utilize each element of the BASICS of mindful eating in an eating exercise. Discuss the commonly reported challenges in learning mindful eating. There will be a combination of lecture, mindful eating, and guided meditation.
